Gardener's Hand Scrub

Part of being a gardener is getting your hands grubby and having a little soil under your fingernails. This simple, down-to-earth scrub is the perfect way to cleanse, exfoliate, and soften hard-working hands after a long day in the mud, using the natural goodness of ingredients found right in your pantry and garden


INGREDIENTS

½ cup maize meal (mielie pap)

¼ cup sweet almond or olive oil

1 Tbsp liquid soap

1 Tbsp dried lavender flowers, lightly crushed

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Combine the maize meal and crushed lavender flowers in a small mixing bowl.

  • Pour in the carrier oil and stir until the mixture forms a thick, textured paste.

  • Add the liquid castile soap and mix well.

  • Spoon the finished scrub into a small, clean glass jar and seal tightly.

  • Scoop a small amount into your palms, massage gently to exfoliate stubborn garden dirt, and rinse with warm water.
